Stafford Township Historical SocietyStafford Township: 1749 - presentStafford Township was chartered on March 3, 1749. Up until then, the land had been part of Shrewsbury Township, Monmouth County. Stafford included all land now belonging to Waretown, Barnegat and much of the area south of present day Stafford, including Eagleswood. Also included was a large part of Long Beach Island. MeetingsOur regular meetings are held at 7pm at the Cultural Center on the 3rd wednesday of every month unless otherwise noted.
Yearly EventsSummer Concert Series will be held every Monday, from June 2, 2008 to Aug 25, 2008, at the Cultural Center on Route 9 in Manahawkin. Concerts start at 7 PM and go until 9 PM. Concerts are free but a $1.00 donation is encouraged. Battle of Cedar Bridge will be held on September 21-23, 2007. Events will be held all day stating at 10am and going "til' Late." Most of the activity will be centered around the Manahawkin Lake Park. Fund Raising Dinner It will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Food and festivities for all.
Christmas Radio Show - Tuesday night at 7:00pm the STHS will present an olde fashioned radio show with stories, comedy, singing and much more.
Recent HappeningsInformation Center Reopens!
Beginning Sunday, October 28, 2007, the museum at Heritage Park will again be open to the general public each Sunday afternoon between the hours of 1 PM and 4 PM. Admission is free.
